  • Monsters : It's rare that I hear any form of break that I truly like. Your music is definitely an exception to that. That song has a straight-foward beat, and an easy-to-find pulse but it's still got all the crazy drum beats you'd hear in regular breakcore. Along with an interesting and dark melody that I like very much. Idr if I've already commented this or not, but I wanted to give you another up.

    on May 7th 2009, 02:06 PM
  • Forever The Win : I completely understand the sound of the breaks in this. Nothing plasticy about it, just the feel you were going for where they are precise and have presence without overpowering the rest of the track. I really love the ending in this one like the last 1/5 where the melody and breaks just don't let up. Sometimes I wish you would combine more tonal instruments at once or even just a back and forth kind of trading of small segments of melody back and forth to more than one instrument. It seems that most of the time, you have drums+bass+melody inst1, the next melody line switches to inst2 and then back to ins1 or 3 and so on. Just a way to possibly make your melodies as technical as your breaks. I don't know if you'll understand what I mean there first try but I tried to make it as clear as I could. Anyway, keep up the darkness. I just put up my finished LSDubstepJ so check it out! :)

  • CAG : There were no hard feelings to begin with. I posted my opinion, you got offended, etc etc. You upload media to this site expecting feedback from it's users, and you got it. I think we can agree to disagree.
    on May 5th 2009, 04:37 AM
  • electrodreams : I think people care when it's blatantly obvious that it doesn't belong on 8BC. I have noticed not just from you that people tend to get very up in arms about music that's not pure 8bit on this site. I will say myself that I tend to leave comments like Epic and wow this is amazing. For lack of an ability to say negative things I tend to just not leave feedback when I don't like something. Unless I really have an opinion... So If I say something is epic I mean that it blows my mind and it's not just a zombie clone statement.... I can see your point and all but that comment you left on his song the first one did seem a tad hostile. The main thing that made it seem that way in my opinion was the over hyped thing... Things get hype for a reason aka people like it. so now I am done wasting space on swampboy's page if you want to respond to me just respond on one of my things...hahaha

  • CAG : Electrodreams: Hello. I really don't want this to snowball into a huge multi-argument. From an artists point of view, if someone tells you that your music is "great", and you then see that that person has said that to every single submission they have seen, it feels diluted, and you, as the receiver of the compliment, can't really gauge what they think of the track. The word "epic" has now lost all meaning to me. It used to describe things that are extremely great or overwhelming in proportion, but now due to over-use and misuse, it's just another word for "great". I never said music has to be 100% 8-bit to belong on this site, but I think you'll agree that this site is meant for things related to 8-bit, and a track with a few 8-bit related samples sprinkled on top doesn't quite cut it. But as I said before, I don't think anyone cares.
    on May 5th 2009, 04:05 AM
  • electrodreams : *definitely (damn spell check and my crappy glasses)
    on May 5th 2009, 03:59 AM
  • CAG : Did I say "I want everyone to give criticism to every song they hear"? No. "A simple two-sentence comment on WHY you liked or disliked it" could be, for instance: "I really like this track, the beat is very catchy." You're twisting my words and turning this into some kind of argument when all I wanted to tell you was what I thought of your track. I never said it was a bad track, I even said "I'm not saying this is bad", but with all the positive comments around mine, I felt it would be pointless to reiterate the reasons why it is good. I'm sorry if you found my opinion offensive, but it was my opinion none the less. It wasn't intended to offend you, I thought you'd be happy to hear some different opinions on your work. Also, I find it kind of contradictory when you tell me you spent weeks on this track, yet you aren't reluctant to boast how you can "touch-type the beats and rarely need to change them".
    on May 5th 2009, 03:54 AM
  • electrodreams : ::warning this is a bit of a rambling but with a point:: jesus..... saying that you think a track is amazing will not get diluted if you truely mean it. EX: you hear one song that you think is very good and it just blows your mind. In life there will always be something better so it only makes sense that you can say that about more than one thing. That would be like saying once some one has said "wow this is the best thing ever" that nothing better could ever come along. It's really a point in time type of statement where people get caught up in the momment of living and it evokes an emotion that leaves you speachless beyond simple comments like WOW. Is there some rule or something that say a track has to be 100% 8bit? Do people not have a place for 8bit fusion. I have begun incorperating 8bit elements into my other musical works and I would like to think that 8BC isn't bias against music that only has fusion rather than pure 8 bit.... any way I think this song is "amazing" truly and defiantly belongs on 8BC,
    on May 5th 2009, 03:53 AM
  • A Little Snow : anyway CAG it's nice song, off course not bestest of the bestest in the world. but it's nice melody, nice work, it's truly completed composition. why so angry guys? *sex is the answer*
    on May 5th 2009, 03:32 AM
  • CAG : There was no anger/hatred behind my comment, seriously. I am getting pretty tired of hearing about how I seem to "go out of my way to be a jerk" when I 'm not. I see 90% of this site contribute nothing but comments like "This track is THE BEST TRACK IN THE WORLD" too often. That may look like a really nice thing to say, but when you say it on everything you think is good, it gets very diluted and loses meaning to the point where it's almost impossible to know what they thought of the track, or if they were just being polite or whatever. A simple two-sentence comment on WHY you liked the track, or WHY you disliked it is a lot more helpful, and a lot more thoughtful. Thats my opinion anyway.
    on May 5th 2009, 03:10 AM
  • CAG : I hear the circuit bending samples in there and some use of "8-bit" VSTs, but I don't think that warrants the entire track to belong on this site. Nobody seems to care whether a track is "8-bit related" anyway, so whatever. I think it's great that people make music either way. Also, I agree with your comment on my track. It definitely needs more work. I realized this before I uploaded it, hence the "(Demo)" next to it's name. I appreciate your feedback, and I think I appreciate it more when people tell me what they think is wrong about it or why they think it's shit as opposed to a three-word sentence telling you that they liked it.
    on May 5th 2009, 02:43 AM
  • swampyboy : i was expecting the whole 'not 8bit' thing at some point. i agree the song isn't entirely 8bit however it features magical8bit, nespulse, lsdj and circuit bending samples, and a whole lot of bitcrusher.
    on May 5th 2009, 02:36 AM
  • CAG : Oh, and "it has nothing to do with 8bit collective" etc etc. I don't think anyone even cares.
    on May 5th 2009, 02:21 AM
  • CAG : After reading all these comments, I feel it is my duty to call this overrated. Something about the "breaks" that just sounds so (for lack of a better word) "plastic". It felt like the drums were more of a showcase of how many different ways you could "touch type" them in. I'm not calling it a bad track, but in relation to all the comments under this one, I think it is fairly overrated.

  • µB : Huh, having a conversation across songs is strange, but since there are no PMs: I'd hate to think that I could have discouraged you in some way. Keep at it! If I can give you a bit of advice: Try a different approach on the technical side. I'm doing the adlib stuff with Cakewalk, which has a musical staff interface instead of the tracker channel view I'm used to. I find that I can work on melodies a lot easier with this, so just getting a fresh perspective helped me. If you track your melodies, maybe try a MIDI keyboard or play it on a guitar- you get what I mean. Btw, I'm now totaly envious because you can touch type those beats :P
