The Black Page part 2: the easy teenage New York version (Frank Zappa cover)

Uploaded by phoenixdk on June 14th 2009, 03:57 AM

What it says on the box. I wanted to use NES-ish sounds, but obviously I quickly ran out of channels, and had to cheat a bit. I also used some delay-effects to spice up the stereo image a bit, but other than that I think it's pretty vanilla. Enjoy!

  • phoenixdk : Thanks! Yep, I am, and I currently live in Aalborg. I play in Gigavolt, usually with Dusty Awe, and I co-founded Paradox Backlash, which is now dead.

  • phoenixdk : Yeah, I think it's pretty accurate... I've listened to the original so many times that I can hum each of the voices along with the song... so it wasn't that hard to get it just right. I did get some help from a MIDI file I found on the net though. I had to butcher a lot of the drums because of Bozzios massive kit... I also didn't notate some instruments in the last bit, on the album there is some shaky sax and stuff on the ending, but it didn't really translate well to chippy sounds...

  • phoenixdk : Pieces of Eight, that had been my second choice, but I think it's a bit off in the future... the Black Page in itself has a sort of "glitchiness" and I wondered how that would translate to a computer-sound... but Peaches is a fantastic tune! Thanks all!
