"I would like to challenge oxyg3n_st4r to musically recreate the the first and final moments of this inevitably (and improbably) doomed creature of the sea. From creation to self discovery and eventually, very smooshy death against the surface of Magrathea. The life of the bowl of petunias would be a nice addition, but it is not required." - Dauragon88

PDF format : I would have to say the ending is my favourite part...
this song starts with the concept of a whale dying, but you took it more to the concept of two human explorers witnessing the slow and final moments of some cyclopean leviathan ending its ageless existance in some ruined temple beneath the waves... its death took eons, and its a sad and tragic affair.. rather than a big splat.. perfect to me.

oxyg3n_st4r : cc, i get exactly what you are saying.. since his life ends abruptly, make the song end abruptly... When taking on this challange, i just thought to take the idea and go with it. I didnt even begin think that in-dept, let alone interpret what exactly happens into music form.

Note : The "squishy ending" is that the whale hits the ground going (I'm guessing) at least a couple hundred miles per hour - ending his recently conceived life. That is indeed a "squishy ending".

CCIVORY : love it! you have amazing recording quality here, those guitars sound amazing with the midines -- honestly the one thing i would want you to improve on in this song is the middle or the ending. the ending needs to go out with a bang! and the middle needed to show this creature with a new light, probably a change in progression -- which you did at one point -- but you should emphasize that same thing at the ending and in the middle. like at the end put that changed progression with the beginning midines bee bo boop beh bee bo boop

oxyg3n_st4r : what is squishy ending? squishy death? i have no idea what you people are talking about.. i never read the book or watched the movie or remake or anything.. so i had no clue what this was even about !!!!! ha

Note : Truly great. I've gotta echo that lack of squishy ending...but I'm guessing since your file name had 'part 1' that the squishy ending comes in the proverbial future. I had always imagined that part of of the book to be far more full of childlike curiosity and wonderment but you put a nice dark spin on it.
