The Game Ended Long Ago (2A03)

Uploaded by mathgrant on December 13th 2009, 10:38 AM

In 2007, I composed the musical score for a short film called Game Over; for more information, please see the 8bc submission at http://8bitcollective.com/music/mathgrant/Game+Over%3A+Super+Parodario+Bros.+Overworld/ and the YouTube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0yf7j7EGaY .This song (which is precisely one minute long, for no reason at all) is sort of a spiritual sequel to the Game Over soundtrack -- it even uses many of the same instruments! As such, expect it to sound very much like a video game, with a little bit of modern chiptune thrown in. :)

  • mathgrant : @2PLAYER: I composed this song for forest world's compilation of one-minute-long songs; I was junking around with a few things, but it really seemed like a minute-long tribute to my short film Game Over was the best idea I could manage (which isn't to say it was a bad idea -- just that it was the best idea I had for such a short song!). As "well thought out and well written" as it is, I can't picture myself expanding it any longer than 60 seconds -- but who knows? :) Thanks for the constructive and thought-provoking comment!

  • 2PLAYER : wow, i am surprised this track has so little listens and likes. this is really well thought out and well written. It is really only the beginning that shares similarity to Mario, other than that it is in a major key, so i would say it shares in most side scrolling mario knock offs. could you just go back and make it 2 minutes long instead? Additionally i understand what you mean in the forums about being underplayed. I enjoy seing 1 honest constructive criticism about a song over having a ton of one liners "Cool!" "Awesome track" etc. I also always make sure to listen to peoples tracks that comment on my tunes even if they are one liners. Guess some people just dont have the time to spend writing an clear and concise summary of what they are listening to. (which could really be done while listening to the tune). Anyways, enough of my rant. I will be sure to check out the rest of your tunes and comment where appropriate

  • kidThunder : This is nice! It sounds just like a mix between Mario and Castlevania.

  • mathgrant : forest world: Yep, no reason at all. I certainly didn't intend to submit it for any potential compilation of minute-long songs, such as yours. ;) Thanks!

  • mathgrant : Mario Hero -- from the makers of Guitar Hero! Move Mario in time to the music! It's totally more awesome and original than it sounds!

  • tssf : Sounds like some obvious Super Mario influence, especially with the intro's rhythm. Sounds good though!
