Beer and Bass (Gameboy DMG)

Uploaded by cTrix on October 1st 2009, 11:10 AM

Dare I mention it: This was my 2nd attempt at a gameboy track after a couple of hours of playing around with a test tune. Celsius had given me a DMG to take to Europe and I hadn't turned it on the whole trip! I was on the plane home, blinding people with my backlit LCD mod (green - in a clear case... I was in the "green" glowing section of the plane!!) and I was determined to get a track completed before the first set of batteries ran out. I recently shortened it for Sundown demoparty (UK) where it *cough* won first place. More DMG tunes coming soon :-] AND I'M GOING TO BLIP FEST!! (yay)

  • arfink : Dang, try 2? I need to get past my try #1 on the LSDJ and IIgs, maybe I'd make something decent. Of course, it doesn't help that I haven't bothered to get a full version of LSDJ yet...

  • L-tron : This is very rad. Love the sounds and synthesis. Great production and composition. I wish you were playing blip!

  • Teh Shadowman : Love your work man, I'm just watching what I got at Soundbytes 5 on the TV at the moment, what you saw on the small screen looks awesome on a 50" I think you will be more than happy with the result. DAMN big file though. Seriously. I may have to take the camera and D/L it straight onto Eugenes HDD. Unless you want 3 DVD's... I'm not joking.

  • cTrix : Thanks for positive comments :-] But this is waaaay substandard work! (a month later) I've got tracks since this (DMG & Atari 2600) waiting to come out on compilations that are much cleaner. Look for Aussie comp 3, Fighting Music comp, Syntax demoparty, Soundbytes and a release we are bringing to blip :-) It's all happening in next few wks... I'll try to put some randoms creations up here inbetween.

  • cTrix : @FTF: Yeah - I can hear what you mean about the noise. I wanted to rework the more chill section to be a bit more contrasting to the rest - just lazy really. I'd rather write something new with that time.

  • cTrix : @freezedream: No processing man. This is straight out the jack, though my mixer (+6db of bass added... not really processing) and into Reaper. I would have compressed / limited it if the compo rules had allowed me too... but I just left it raw in the end :-] Thanks for comments peeps! It's inspiring be to pop out a few more.

  • FTF : The noise channel gets a little annoying but at the same time the rest of the song would be dull without it... fun track though, very unique/refreshing sound to it... :)

  • cTrix : @Jellica: The DMG stuff is starting to surface within the demoscene. I was at Evoke demoparty a few months back and a mate of mine released a full demo for Gameboy DMG: Go to 'tube (when you've finished rockin' to this) and look up "Man meets machine by Jumalauta".
