Save Our Souls (LSDJ)

Uploaded by benanderson89 on March 6th 2009, 12:57 PM

My first song completed with LSDJ! Huzzah! Anyway... This was originally written and composed on the Casio VL-1 and its one of my favourite lo-fi songs to date, but I just got my USB LSDJ cartridge today and I couldn't think of anything to make with it so I recomposed SOS. The original song had 5 instruments at once so sadly the Gameboy version misses out on the filtered Ostinato sequence, I wouldn't of been able to filter it in real time anyway. The vocoder is the fruity vocoder with a PWM wave as the carrier. Enjoy! Constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated :)

  • benanderson89 : It does have kick drums of sorts, just quiet and made using white noise as I have too many things going on in the other channels. The other version of the song used the blips from the vl1 which made up for the lack of a kick, I might blend the two versions together in future and have the best of both worlds. I did try and add kicks early in production but they were too harsh and spoiled the mood of the song.
