Solar Winds

Uploaded by Wizwars on November 2nd 2008, 07:21 PM

New song from an album I'm working on called "Solar Winds", due out sometime next year. I'm not really sure this one is finished, it ends pretty abruptly, but I just wanted to show the direction I'm currently going with my music.

  • IAYD : Wiz, you are a whiz. This is so great, I loved the stuttery feeling to it. Great direction taken.

  • Wizwars : Actually I didn't use a Game Boy this time around, I used Modplug and a collection of NES sounds. Normally I would prefer something like LSDJ or Famitracker but I started out with Modplug and to be honest, with the kind of effects I was doing in this track I'm not sure I could've successfully pulled them off in the other programs and had it sound good. Considering I stuck to NES limitations in terms of channels and volume (though possibly not pitch) I'll sacrifice that last bit of authenticity just to have my stuff sound the way I want it to sound.

  • Wizwars : You're right, it does need more time to fade out. I'll actually probably add to the end of the song so that it fades out and goes into another section. I think two and a half minutes is a bit short but I still gotta keep it interesting as well. Rich, thanks for the compliment, I respect your opinions a lot and have always tried to follow the advice you've given me about composition. I'm still learning, I've only been actively writing music for three or four years now and I think just within the past year I've improved quite a bit, but there is still a lot of room for growth.

  • kidgamma : hiqual! really great i love it. sparse enough to be a little unnerving. something that you might lose with "development" but i like this characteristic. like the bits are a little unfocused now, the song is a little in-cohesive and for me that makes it a little nerve-racking and enjoyable. definitely level. and if you just give the echo more time to fade to zero at the end i think it would be fine
