  • Select : Yup yup, still fantastic!

  • Knuckle Joe : so amazing. 100% genius. nuff said.

  • Wizwars : @Sundown Syndrome: This is an old mix of the song, guitar is a bit louder in the 'final' mix that's on the "A Chip Off The Shizz Block" compilation CD. But I'm going to re-record this at some point with better guitars (maybe even a lead track?), bass and possibly drums (if not, realistic sounding sequenced drums, which I've already tried out and sound fucking nice). "Fly Away" at this point is one of two side projects I'm working on, or will be working on in the future.

  • sundown syndrome : the guitar's barely audible for me, pretty neat though

  • Daemon9623 : Wiz, make no mistake that all of your stuff is incessantly awesome. Like, annoyingly so because there's not enough time in the day to spend listening to it. This track just has a sort of transcendent, subtle melancholy quality that just really resounds with people. It gives a vision of both soaring high above your problems and at the same time just wanting to be able to. If it makes sense it's almost like a sad feel-good song, like the theme is "I can close my eyes and I'm gone, just for a little while...". You should be proud.

  • Wizwars : I love how this song gets more attention than anything else I've ever done, and it's completely different from my usual stuff. Guess that says something about my usual style, eh?
    on December 15th 2009, 06:51 PM
  • hpizzle : somehow i didn't know about you until recently. this is amazing. great job mixing chip and guitar.
    on December 15th 2009, 06:04 PM

  • TILT : How could i miss this? Thank you...

    on April 18th 2009, 03:36 PM
  • FantomenK : makes me want to add some guitar playing in my next track!
    on April 15th 2009, 07:36 AM
  • Wizwars : Paper Toy: Chiptune made in modplug, recorded the guitars clean in Cubase and then processed them through Amplitube 2.
    on April 4th 2009, 11:07 AM
  • Paper Toy : I love this song fair play. What software do you use in it?
    on April 3rd 2009, 11:40 PM
  • Wizwars : It's shortened from Wizards And Warriors, which was the name I used from July '06 to December '07. Most people just called me Wizwar or Wizwars because it was easier to type and I figured being named after a NES game was kind of stupid, so I just shortened it. Kind of a lame meaning but I think it sounds cool. Glad you guys are still digging this track, my computer is kind of fucked right now but I'll try to crank out an EP of this stuff within the next few months.
    on March 31st 2009, 11:25 AM
  • Ethinil : What's the meaning of your nickname? it's a contraction of Wizard wars? or Wizz wars? or both °°? Whatever, it's a very cool song ;)
    on March 31st 2009, 06:09 AM
  • A Link to the Future : I'm new to this music but so in love with it. great stuff Wizwars
    on March 31st 2009, 04:25 AM
  • skeletonkids : Man I'm really jealous. Great job.
    on March 30th 2009, 07:37 PM
  • highbeam : damn, this is too good
    on March 28th 2009, 08:39 PM
  • Random : I like it very much! Especially the second half is super sweet. Great guitar sound, it blends very well with the NES sounds.
    on March 28th 2009, 02:35 PM
  • Anamanaguchi : this is pretty fucking awesome
    on March 28th 2009, 12:16 PM
  • chipzel : this is epic :| well done! very nice sound indeed
    on March 27th 2009, 07:46 AM
  • Disasterpeace : It's definitely on par with Anamanaguchi, dude. Sometimes less is more!
    on March 27th 2009, 01:15 AM
  • Wizwars : brndn: I'm fairly certain this is no where near as good as Anamanaguchi (plus they do more with the guitars than I did on this track), but I definitely appreciate the compliment :)
    on March 27th 2009, 12:31 AM
  • IFightDragons : I'm really late to the party obviously but goddamn this is good!!! I actually got linked to it thru Twitter cuz people were raving about it outside of 8bc :D
    on March 26th 2009, 10:40 PM
  • Doctor Octoroc : Very tight arrangement, and I love what you've done with the 8-bit sounds. A lot of times people don't properly use the chip-sounds with other instruments and it just sounds forced, but you pulled it off nicely. I would hesitantly suggest you change anything, and would only be a matter of opinion that I wouldn't mind hearing the chip-sounds a little louder. Again, love it.
    on March 26th 2009, 10:08 PM
  • brndn : I think you just stumbled into a little bit of fame with this. If you don't mind the comparison, it sounds like Anamanaguchi, and I know they're getting ridiculously big these days so hey, it can't be bad! Awesome song, man!
    on March 26th 2009, 05:06 PM
  • J-Bean : Completely shitting epic! Mad props! :D
    on March 26th 2009, 11:45 AM
  • MentalMiles : wow! o.O
    on March 26th 2009, 11:12 AM
  • Wizwars : Kimboi - Go for it. If anything, it would be interesting to hear.
    on March 26th 2009, 09:01 AM
  • Deefect : Awh man, awesome song. There even came dr. pepper out of my nose.. 'Cause my girl asked me to go with her to 'this beautiful republic'.. so i was listening this, and i then opent a youtube video from TBR.. and damn, i laughed so hard.. really strange experience to go from this good to that bad.. So thats why the dr. pepper came out of my nose.. Uhm, yes, well, its a good song.
    on March 26th 2009, 06:57 AM
  • FantomenK : Yeah it was very nice executed!
    on March 26th 2009, 05:52 AM
  • kiddybit : ngiaaaaah awesome!

  • Reverend Protocol : Man, this was great! Fantastic job.
    on March 26th 2009, 02:40 AM
  • Kimboi : Hey. Wizwars. Will you let me do vocals on this one?
    on March 26th 2009, 12:44 AM
  • noisewaves : awesome! when you do re-do it in famitracker, could you pleeeease upload the .FTM file to the 2a03 server? I wanna see the magic!
    on March 25th 2009, 01:57 PM
  • Wizwars : I'm actually not sure what happened there. We were both tied for number one with 26 likes and then at some point yesterday I noticed his had gone down to 25. Whatever, I'll take it.
    on March 25th 2009, 01:48 PM
  • FTF : Well F X already had "Little Fighter X" as the #1 when it was the radio version... so Wizwars only deserved it. :P
    on March 25th 2009, 01:18 PM
  • KGHB : what! how'd this jump to#1??
    on March 24th 2009, 11:23 PM
  • FTF : Oh damn this shit is mighty fantastic... It sounds like vocals could go on it, but I cant think of a way they could make it any better than it already is. Nice job mate! :)
    on March 24th 2009, 11:06 PM
  • celsius : All I was saying is that the end product came out a little flat and muddy in sections. If this is an asthetic choice then fair enough. However I am allowed to disagree vickysbooties. Just to clarify I really am loving this Wizwars. You really nailed it. :) Grats.
    on March 24th 2009, 08:56 PM
  • vickysbooties : NO LYRICS. and as to eq its up to the composer to eq as he/she pleases. and he said he spent 15 mins so this is clearly how he wants it. perfect
    on March 24th 2009, 08:46 PM
  • Wizwars : I don't write lyrics and I don't sing. If someone who didn't write crappy lyrics and sounded better than a bad American Idol audition tried adding some vocals to this, I certainly wouldn't oppose.
    on March 24th 2009, 07:13 PM
  • brownbear : Plz slap some vox on this already awesome track! :)
    on March 24th 2009, 07:01 PM
  • Wizwars : I actually don't notice it sounding that bad in its current state. I've heard a lot of other chip mixed with guitar stuff that sounds far worse (to me anyway), and I'm pretty critical of my own stuff. I spent maybe fifteen minutes with it in Cubase before exporting it (including recording both of the guitar tracks) so I'm not surprised that the mixing sounds a bit off, I was just more interested in seeing if I could pull off mixing guitar with chip. And considering that the response to this track has been considerably more positive than anything else I've ever posted here, I think I did that. Expect a better recorded and mixed version soon.
    on March 24th 2009, 06:59 PM
  • Cloud Gazer : that is nice *nods head enthusiastically*
    on March 24th 2009, 04:20 PM
  • Ouch, Fire! : this is realllly good. The guitar just fits in perfectly. The bass and the kick muddy each other a little tho. but its great!
    on March 24th 2009, 04:08 PM
  • celsius : I love this track. Even though it's a demo it would have been nice to give it a once over with an EQ. I really couldn't stand listening to it in it's current state however after appling a really rough EQ the sound was improved a lot.
    on March 24th 2009, 04:07 PM
  • Wizwars : The chiptune was made in Modplug. I should note that this is a demo recording, I'll re-record the guitars eventually and will also probably redo the chip in Famitracker eventually for that last little bit of authenticity.
    on March 24th 2009, 03:29 PM
  • DYNABLADE : what did you make this on?
    on March 24th 2009, 12:42 PM
  • LIGHTLIGHTLIGHTS : I love the NES sound, there's something so distinctive about it, especially with those harmonies in the chorus. Your guitar tone could be a little fatter, though.
    on March 24th 2009, 11:02 AM
  • Kid_Flyaway! : add some vox, this is amazing :)
    on March 24th 2009, 09:32 AM

    on March 18th 2009, 10:50 PM
  • Disasterpeace : This is way better than Dragonforce. I feel like I've had to say that on this site many times. I love the guitar accenting the kick and triangle, works really well!
