  • sloopygoop : I may have missed this one last year, but it's awesome. Really fascinating. Nice classical allusion, too.

  • Hawksmoor : Natty, I sent this to my dad who directs the Yale music library. He's considering logging this into University catalog. Congratulations, this may become the first 8bit track immortalized in the stuffy halls of the Ivy League. It could use some lyrics, though - maybe something like uh eh eh eh eh eh ach ach ach uh eh eh eh uh uh ach ach uh uh uh eh ech ach. I got so excited when I heard this that I slappeded my baloonz right ofta the tayble.

  • Random : But Tom Bombadil can only play classic oldschool funk songs for the hot waitress at the bar...

  • Natty : Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. I've been experimenting with stranger and more deconstructed sounds lately and this is the first track I've recorded of this kind. It's high praise coming from the likes of you folks. Maybe next time Random plays at Wicked Willy's I'll do an opening set featuring Tom Bombadil on mandolin.

  • Random : Impressive piece of work, Natty! I like it a lot! Some parts are more true to the original song than others, but the amount of reconstruction (or simply destruction?) you've done to it, adding your own flavour, makes it very original and a very "full" musical experience.

  • CCIVORY : oh my god. this is terrifying. i give you props for making such an evil evil song. the subject itself is disgusting, and this warped version of the nutcracker's christmas really frightens me.

  • retroboytimo : incredible track, one of the best advent calendar songs. :D

  • KK : yeah, on the front page this song looks like it's listed as "8bc advent calendar: CHRISTMAS- Rape". I was kinda shocked that you'd title something that, but upon closer inspection i now see i wasn't getting the full picture. great track! very classy inspirations. then again, what else would one expect from Natty?

  • disassembler : Rape isn't funny, unless you're raping a clown!

  • Natty : Did I say Greek? I meant Roman. I knew I was asking for trouble with the name, and there were other options, but staring at that statue from several angles while listening to tchaikovsky won out in the end. Too bad about the stream.

  • RuthieD : while DEF not a fan of the name (one reason being the confusion which has already taken place)... the track is so. RAD. happy birthday to you and Jesus (except you were actually born this day)!

  • Natty : Um... For some reason this sounds really strange when I play it off the stream. I would recommend downloading it. It sounds fine that way.

  • DanClark : I raped like 10 sugar plum fairies... Of course, I mean that as in the Roman Rape. Which is more like... stealing.

  • Natty : Um... I'm glad you like the song but "Yay rape" is definitely not what I was going for. Some of my close friends are rape survivors and that's just not good form, man. The Rape of the Sabine Women is a very moving and tragic part of greek history/legend and one of my favorite renaissance statues. Rape, on the other hand, is probably the worst thing I can think of.
