A piece of disaster

Uploaded by MISTER BEEP on January 27th 2009, 12:46 AM

As usual - music from ZX SPECTRUM 48Kb (Z80 chip). Kind of celtic stuff, I suspect. This song is dedicated to DisasterPeace (as a contemporary art-rock-chiptune musician), and also to Tim Follin & Andy Brown as classic art-rock-chiptune musicians (from 80s) on ZX Spectrum 48K. :) (In USA art-rock probably is refered as progressive-rock ;) ). Well, as C64 is well-known from 'funky' style, as ZX48 is known from progressive/folk style (also because it does sound like bagpipes. :) Well, no wonder - it comes from British Islands :) ). The only person making modernly this style of music on present scene is DisasterPeace. :) So I dedicated to him this short 1-bit song.__________EDIT: Aww, crap - not the only, as I found lately, there is also Derris-Kharlan. :) Sorry, my mistake. :)

 • MISTER BEEP : Thanks, guys. :) Gejm: yeah, I also like this style of music. ;) But without patterns (in linear editor) making such stuff is a pain in the ass. :)

 • MISTER BEEP : Disasterpeace: hehe, I'm more than glad you like the tune. ;) Of course I agree it could use some accompaniment, as this editor has only one tone and - although 8 channels is nice to use on Spectrum - but the engine is designed exactly like a piano. I mean: you can press (let's say) 8 keys but only once. ;) You cannot press one and the same key twice (or more) in the same moment. ;) It's like a genie: "I will fulfil ALL of your wishes, but ONLY THREE". ;) ;) Anyway, if you'd like to take a crack, I'd be honoured. :) :)

 • Disasterpeace : How did I never see this! haha This is way cool, though I agree it could benefit from some accompaniment. Mind if I take a crack? ;)

 • Miko : I'm really digging all of your tunes at the moment. A real breath of fresh air to hear some spectrum sounds :-) I love the way there is very little or no prominent percussive sounds in the music but the energy of the melody just completely carries the whole thing. moremoremoremoremore

 • yerzmyey : That's typical for progrock compostitions (take Japanese Ars Nova or whatever else from the genre). Broken/cut rhythm. DPeace can do it too. :)
