Mega Driven -Semi Live- : Yamaha DSR-2000

Uploaded by Jredd on May 16th 2009, 09:11 PM

I just bought a nice fm synthesizer with a 8 poly track recorder. It's very easy to play and write songs with and it sounds an awful lot like a genesis or an ad lib track except it has the human imperfections of being played semi-Live! So I thought it would be interesting to see if people like this. If you want me to make some more just let me know! Thanks!

  • Jredd : Thanks a ton you guys! I've already done a few more but I gotta wait until this Sunday before I could post on and have it actually appear on the front page. Otherwise people probably won't notice it. I'll either have one of these or another Korg ds-10 song up. Not sure :).

  • electrodreams : Man this is awesome!! it really reminds me of 80's Capcom Games (Megaman excluded) especially Dream Master!! I love it!! I can't find a thing wrong with it, I know you like constructive criticism but in my own opinion this track is smooth!!!

  • AlexLuthor : Pretty good, you're obviously a skilled musician :) I think you should raise the volume a bit on the lead and maybe have a more in your face-bass sound as this one is really anonymous.

  • Ultrasyd : The melody and chords are good, I relly like the drums wich really sounds like in a genesis game ! The concept of semi-live is cool too. It's what I'm planning to do as soon as I receive my little keyb ;)

  • vitrics : Well I really enjoyed this. I have to say this doesn't sound as chip as some of your other stuff. I think that's due to how smooth (un-raw) the fm synth is. But don't get me wrong, its beautiful. I'd love to hear more of this from you. My only gripe is, I think two of the quick note sets are a little too fast, possibly because of playing it back at a different speed.

  • Jredd : Semi-live refers to the fact that these tracks were played live at a slower speed with the programed drums to keep time, then played back at roughly twice that speed when played back in the keyboard itself. I hope that clears up how this was made :).
