Integreat (LSDJ)

Uploaded by Foxtrot on January 10th 2010, 02:50 PM

I've been working on this for a couple hours now. I like what I've got so far, but I can't really find a way to end it (hence the fade-out/recycled ending). Any suggestions and/or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Foxtrot : @KID-SIZ3D CUTI3: The whole thing I was experimenting with in this track was the offbeat melodies - that's why it doesn't sound like they work there. @Jredd I'm definitely taking your suggestions to heart - I took out the last build-up and the fade out on this recording and I'm developing the quieter section more musically... less unce. :D @JonnyNero: I know exactly what you're talking about but I'd need another channel... I want to move to two gameboys eventually but I'm still waiting for my first pro-sound DMG to get here... all of this is recorded on an SP. @Sirius-B Obrigado!

  • JonnyNero : Oh God syncopation! Yes, just yes. I know the LSDJ wiki recommends bass syncopation by using channel one for both kicks and bass, which always adds an awesome rhythm to almost anything, but with that lead over that style...it's just outstanding. As far as an ending goes, it's going to be hard to do it, but I think having a constant, pulsing note in the higher register to counteract the bass while one of those leads goes on might sound good in this case. But, as you said, you are rather pushing the limits of the program on a single Gameboy. Maybe it's time to get another :p

  • Jredd : Nice use of grooves to give your track a more organic feel. One thing I thought of for a break down section to put in there might be where the wav channel becomes just a bass and the white noise hat carry the melody for a short while, and then you can pick it up with the kicks again. A technique like that might be a cool way to end it too. Something that end strong melodically would further separate yourself from all the other Hyper-Unce LSDJ track out there. Keep it experimental and fresh. Pretty cool stuff so far :).

  • KID-SIZ3D CUTI3 : dude the intro is epic! but the notes just dont sound like they work there, maybe try eigth notes, just the space between the notes sound off, maybe thats just me. damn and 3 or 4 weeks? you are gifted my friend =]

  • Foxtrot : Thanks Robot City @We_Navigate: LSDJ is my first real tracker. I've transcribed things in Finale Notepad but that's hardly the same. haha. I do play a lot of instruments and have been playing music practically my whole life. You can get really comfortable with LSDJ just by listening to others tracks...that's why this website is so great: there's so much inspiring material. For this track in particular I was really inspired by IAYD and BOYWONDER.

  • We_Navigate : your pretty good for 3-4 weeks of LSDJ, you an experienced tracking/sequencer user??

  • Foxtrot : @Stevens: I was thinking of putting in a pretty massive ending but I realized that I'm sort of hitting my LSDJ boundaries (in terms of fullness of sound) as is. Right now I'm writing out a crazy solo type line that I'll use with a more intense wave background, and see how that sounds after the soft section... @We_Navigate: Thanks for the kind words. :D I've only been using LSDJ for 3 or 4 weeks, so I don't have a myspace page (yet!). I do have a facebook page [FAUXTROT] if you want to become a fan, haha. Thanks for the comments everyone!

  • We_Navigate : this was unexpected! i though 'oh here we go, another artist asking for CC and views' dude, this is AMAZING! i like the discreet panning in the middle on the notes indipendantly, really like the textures in this song, very creative, nice kicks too, if this is just a couple of hours work then i think you could create something of incredible standard if you really went for it. this song, christ. it is actually REALLY good. 'downloaded' you got a myspace?

  • Stevens : Damn the looseness of this track is something some producers kill for, very cool. Where it fades out now sounds like its about to head into a huge finale, since its relatively short as is I'd add a final absolutely massive (perhaps particularly crazy with the strange timings/complex sound design) climax. I was impressed with this turning up in the CC section though!

  • Foxtrot : Haha yeah I was messing around with the groove functions on the main melody, everything else is in time (for the most part). I don't plan on leaving it like this, it's just what I have at the moment. I don't want to use that same build up at the end either...I'm just kinda burned out and looking for any advice. Thanks for the interest though. :D

  • Beverage : I'm generally not a big fan of strict LSDJ, but this track is a bit intriguing. I can hardly guess what you seem to be up to, everything is so spontaneous and unscripted. Everything occasionally seemed offbeat, but in a way that I think I liked - musicially offbeat. Really enjoyable. Sad to see how it ended, but hey, sometimes a fadeout is all you can do.
