Kids (The Management cover)

Uploaded by Disco Rehab on February 10th 2009, 05:39 PM

Not a huge fan of MGMT, but I love this song. Electribe + mixer effects and audacity Please excuse the lack of chipness, I'm eventually going to vocode my voice with lsdj but I'm waiting on a certain cord.. soz. The main lead is missing for the same reason Criticism always appreciated. Nitpick away

  • Disco Rehab : that was awhile ago, just another unfinished song xD I mean, I DO still have the vocoder, and it is possible to run lsdj through it... maybe someday when Im bored

  • Colonel_Eyeball : vocode yer voice with LSDJ? can you do that? Or are you gonna run it through a talkbox and into your mouth? Anyway! Nice cover!!! I know, i really don't like MGMT, especially after seeing live footage of them, uneventful and cocky and sloppy as hell... but damn their studio tracks are pop perfection! Great take on this super catchy song

  • Wavedude : Lol, wow, awesome! Electribes rock. I have an ER-1. Awesome track

  • swampyboy : basically if you put some vocals of your own on it i think it would be great

  • Melissa : Actually Panic uses autotune for the majority of their songs when they play live

  • Disco Rehab : @swampyboy: this is kind of a rough draft so yeah, those will get fixed though. I see 2 remixes (technically 1, I personally was trying to head more towards a cover than a remix) on 8bc. And actually I think Zilog's version was fantastic, albeit it's rythme being different from the original

  • swampyboy : the bass is too loud, or the lead is too quiet. sorry but i think there's too many remixes of this song already on this site and none of them are great.

  • me : I don't care what your taste in music is, but you can't deny that theres a shitload of bands in the genre who misuse it

  • me : I mean FOB actually.

  • Shonentune : Panic used autotune once and it was relevant to the sound of the song. It was a bit on the electro-side and so gave a robotic feel. Makes sense. Also I will NOT excuse the lack of chipness! This is EIGHT BIT collective! FOOL!

  • Disco Rehab : Yes, MGMT is also known as The Management. I like the way that the bass sounds though, but now that I listened to this with headphones on I agree. And I get what you're saying about the lead, earlier I was trying to tweak it but I couldn't find a suitable sound
    on February 11th 2009, 07:46 AM
  • AlexLuthor : Pretty accurate but I think the instrumentation could use some work, the lead is very thin and the bass is very distorted and "in your face".

  • FTF : MGMT = The Management... lolwut?

  • christopher_voss : sounds correct.

  • Disco Rehab : Shit I dunno, I thought that was what characterized that type of music: shitty singers using autotone and voxes to hide the fact that they can't sing in key.

  • Pompei : panic at the disco uses autotune?
    on February 10th 2009, 06:43 PM
  • Disco Rehab : thanks! I was wondering if the bass needed a little something or if it was just a side effect of listening to it so much
    on February 10th 2009, 05:59 PM
  • pandastar : I like it a lot but I feel like there is something it's lacking with the bass :(? idk
    on February 10th 2009, 05:55 PM
  • Disco Rehab : I have an electrix warp factory vocoder. How the fuck do you vocode (with hardware) without at least some form of autotune? I mean I guess I could make it like 70% voice 30% instruments but really.. Don't worry. Its not going to sound like Panic at the Disco or some bullshit.
