Picked up an old track and finished it last night (well, semi-finished as it isn't mixed yet). C&C appreciated :) TFM1.3

  • AlexLuthor : Yeah I was going for a tambourine sound, but I agree it doesn't quite suit the song.

  • nixo : perfect if it werent for the "bell"-like sound that starts in the middle, one of your most impressive songs

  • AlexLuthor : Glad you like the track, and I probably would get in touch with you if you supplied that e-mail ;)

  • sonicjean : My studio is developing an arcade-style game (for the web) and we were wondering if you might interested in supplying a track for the soundtrack. We love Gotham By Night. This is for a good cause actually... email me for details.

  • Subway Sonicbeat : Oh my dream would be to track mega drive music with pcm drums. :P The snare in here is really off of the rest, but it didn't affect overall. The song is still pretty batmanesque.

  • TmEE : All this needs is little more tighter percussions, and these in PCM... all else... PERFECT :D

  • AlexLuthor : Nah I might take offence to baseless critique sometimes, but you definitely make some good points. I hadn't even thought about the hihats as the way I work I usually get completely caught up with the leads and just neglect the drums until the last moment. Never really done any drumming IRL so I know it's not one of my strengths. Thanks a lot man :)

  • Jredd : Always enjoyed your work* Sorry for the typo. :)

  • Jredd : As others have said, it has a very sun soft vibe in this composition. Strangely enough, it also reminds me of some Turbo Graphix 16 titles. There are a lot of awesome ideas in here. I don't think it is bad in the least but there is something missing. I think that this is good, promising in fact. However something is holding it back. I think the hi hat's should go double the speed at times. I also think the bass synth should be a bit more gritty sounding. I am willing to admit that this may be more of a personal preference than a critique, but still I personally feel that some small tweaks could make this go from good to great! That's my viewpoint, and I mean no disrespect. I've always enjoyed you work and this is no exception. This get's my like, but I might have used some different techniques. Still, the overall product is very cool, and I admire your style choice. I think more people should check this one out. Nice composition!

  • AlexLuthor : shiru: Thanks for the comment, sunsoft was of course a huge inspiration :) I haven't mixed this obviously (yeah should've mentioned that in the description) and I recorded it in Audacity so it isn't quite accurate. I guess I can tweak the snare a bit but I want to keep the bass in it since I only have 1 channel to work with for drums. Which parts don't seem to fit? I agree somewhat, and the reason is I basically had the chorus done since long before, then added a bunch of stuff that wasn't necessarily in the right key or theme of the song, just to experiment. I don't want it to sound Too much like a sunsoft track.

  • Shiru : I'm almost liked this track, because it has many good parts which are reminds Sunsoft's Batman music. However, I didn't liked overall composition - how the parts combined, sometimes they sounds like parts as is, not single composition. I also didn't liked some things in sound - not very good snare (needs better work with noise and tweaks in volume), these very-very long PSG notes in one part, and high-pitched sound together with snare in some parts.
