It's love for the machine. Lots of 8-bit love :-] (actually, the Amiga is 16-bit, but the Spectravideo and C64 are def 8!)

TrimWhiteSpaces : cTrix: this is very interesting... can you put some more explanation, maybe a tut? or link to some page where it is explained?

cTrix : calmdownkidder : *l* True! Add power supplies, not to mention tape / disc drives, floppies and assorted AV cables (all different btw) - you end up with a suitcase just for the bits. And the clocks drift something chronic even though the tempos are all locked to v-sync (the Amiga loses time). You have to run a delay line to componsate for drift on-the-fly when playing live.

calmdownkidder : This is why lots of kids pose with a Game Boy - it's a lot easier ;)

cTrix : TWS: Next time I do a live chip / MOD gig (about once a year) I'll document my setup and run some tests. The clock drift could actually be daggy playcode dropping the odd field (excuse the pun). It feels more constant that that though. I still need a delay line regardless because the v-sync between machines will always be out - even if constant. Unfortunatly turning on "master power" at the powerpoint doesn't lock machines! A few ms of drift can lead to all sorts of phasing problems and micro delays on hats just sound sloppy. fun fun fun... it's why we do it isn't it?!
