Baby Blue -- 8Mbit Single Time Write Game ROM <br><br> Red -- 256kbit SRAM to Hold Save Data<br><br> Dark Blue -- Memory Bank Controller 5 ( Allows the puny 8bit gameboy CPU to access large game ROMS and SRAM. )<br><br> Yellow -- An attempt to remove the chip in green with a shitty soldering iron goes bad.<br><br> Green -- MM1134A Chip Protects SRAM by switching from power from the gameboy to power provided by the onboard battery. <br><br> Purple -- I hate onboard batteries so I removed this one. ; )

  • bleepbloop : It would definitely be possible to use the MBC5 chip to gain that functionality. Unfortunately, the only way to get those chips today is to remove them from old cartridges. To do that in software would be very inexpensive compared to buying a bunch of cartridges. Removing smt components is actually pretty easy. All you need is a very powerful heat gun like the ones they use to remove linoleum floor tiles.

  • ----- : Taking into account the difficulty of removing and smd ic, woudln't it be possible to remove the game rom, reroute the power to your circuit and load data through the connections the game rom previously was connected to?
