Visual Arts Weekend Challenge: Tani no Sakura

Uploaded by Note! on May 31st 2009, 05:44 AM

"<a href="http://8bitcollective.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11762&p=3">...</a>create a 256x240 (NES screen size) landscape in the style of a Ukiyo-e woodblock print. Actual NES restrictions are optional (NES palette, 4 different 4 color palettes per screen, only one palette can be used per 16x16 block." <br><br> I had a hard time with this one and have gained a whole lot of respect for the awesome artists that do .nsf Pulsewave flyers and other NES art on the regular. Apologies for the crappy dithering and sub-par kanji skills : ) <br><br> Just to be clear, the image <i>does</i> fit within NES restrictions... except that it should be 256 <b>wide</b> by 240 <b>tall</b>. DOH!

  • Note! : Thanks for the comments yalls. @PizzaPastaTime: you don't know how much time I spent on those mountains : ) Took me forever to finally get something I liked and stayed true to the ukiyo-e style but you're right, a bit more shading would have been nice.

  • PizzaPastaTime : I really like this, but a little more bitchin shading on the mountains, and I think I'd buy this as a poster for my room.
