Little Red Game Boy

Gel transfer and acrylic on canvas. 24" x 18".
Another unfinished artwork. Over 6 months old at this point.
Maybe it'll be a future album cover once I actually write an album's worth of good music?
(I'd also like to point out that I don't support Mao or anything. This is simply a parody on the popularity of and fanatical devotion to the Game Boy and The Little Red Book.)

Awol : :O :) Wow! Thanks! I'm surprised to see new comments on this old thing. There are too many reasons I don't want to sell it or do another one though (the painting's currently at home in Miami, I don't think it's finished, I got tired with the gel transfer method, I don't have any time/canvas/paint with me in NYC, I only have 1 copy, etc) However, I am taking an intaglio printmaking class, and I was thinking of possibly doing some chiptune related etchings and selling them at Blipfest. I wouldn't mind selling prints cause I can make more than one copy. I don't know if I have the time do them though. But anyway, your comments are very much appreciated! :)

silreq : In response to your question about H.P. Lovecraft recomendations: I can't really reccommend books because most of his work is short stories and over the years I've caught them in various forms like in magazines some times, so my reccomendations for stories would have to be, The Call of Cthulhu, The Festival, Dagon, Dreams in the Witch House, Out of the Eons, Pickman's Model, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath ( note: this one is essential), The rats in the Walls, any thing with the word "Horror" in the title, and any of his poetry . . . I think he was on drugs or something . . .

Awol : Thanks for the appreciative comments everyone! :) Phillis Excursion: Basically you cover the surface (in my case canvas) with clear acrylic gel. Then you take a photocopy or a print-out and place it face down on the surface. After the gel has somewhat dried, you peel off the paper and the ink stays stuck in the gel. The image shows up flipped horizontally on the canvas, so keep that in mind when you print it up. Afterward I went in with acrylic paint on top of the transfers. It was a real pain to get the technique to work right. So frustrating it made me decide not to work with gel transfers again... although recently I have been wondering how a gel transfer might look as a custom Game Boy paint mod and I might try that.
