He's probably a 'basement dweller'.

As in "he lives in his parents basement". Which is how he has the cash to buy all that equipment he has no idea how to use.

He welds a Keytar and a KP3 together
Just pointing out that it's not a keytar and it's not a KP3. It's one of the kaoss products that is designed for video, and it's a normal synth I think.
Oh the Kaoss Pad Entrancer? I guess that explains it's size, just saw a bulky kaoss pad and thought "KP3!!"
And a synth held like a guitar, even if it isn't shaped like or labelled a "Keytar" is still one in my book
Edit
Pretty sure the synth is a customised Microkorg XL
Found this, for whatever it's worth:

I'm surprised this fellow has not yet been added to the Hall of Shame. His crimes against the 8 bit community seem heinous enough to warrant it.
Now if only being on the Hall of Shame did something, like cause severe foot odor, or replace the offender's car with a Tequila Sunrise.

Big props for all the community for keeping an eye on the thieves.
the beauty of creative commons is menaced by this people, but thankfully, several members of the chiptune community take care of other artists interests, that's something we all should really appreciate.
And for this guy... he REALLY have some good tastes stealing, and he is a caricature of a musician. I really don't know how anyone haven't noticed before his "skills" manipulating that fancy hardware like he is doing.

His DREAM... the thing that keeps him awake at night, and hopes to one day be known for... something that he'd steal for, and stop at nothing to achieve...
is to be cool enough to play a keytar.
...What a dong.
I hope his girlfriend leaves him. It kinda bothers me that he has one and I don't. Maybe I should lie more.
...
... Dear God... it's me, Mike... I know we don't talk much... and every time we do it seems like its only because I want something... but... c'mon... really?
... REALLY?

So I'm going to send an emial to the events coordinator of the Con that this occured at and it goes like this :Hello,
My name is Robert Joffred and I am writing you to inform you that an artist who performed at Game Core last weekend under the name of TV Death Squad is a fraud. I might be writing to the wrong person about this matter and I would hope that you would forward this to the appropriate person. I have not looked too far into the matter, however one of the songs here performed can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRCqzJEA … r_embedded It is a song originally by the artist Random titled Sitges Savepoint. I realize that of course there is nothing that can be done now about the matter, however if you could inform other conventions about the artist that would be a great help. Also, being that the convention is in Philadelphia, there is a brilliant chiptune (or 8-bit music) community going on this city. Some of the 8-bit musical acts from Philadelphia include Cheap Dinosaurs, Animal Style, Autoscroll (which is an 8-bit group who even performs video game covers) and myself, under the stage name Ro-Bear. Philadephia's 8-bit scene is also very unique in having some of the greatest chip visualists around such as VBlank, Enso, and No Carrier. In fact, there is a monthly 8 bit show in Philadelphia called 8 static that is running tomorrow night. Under the Friends of Game Core website the VGXPO is listed and this year, I believe that all of the artists are performing at that convention. As a Philadelphia college student who was born and raised in Wyomissing, I hope that you will consider requesting honest acts to perform for your event.
Any revising suggestions?
Rather than posting you haven't researched it, I have. Put this in instead. It's always better to have proof.
The song "The Aftermath" on TV Death Squad's page is actually Goto80 - Ter4 (from the EP Contech). Here is a link to the official release on the well regarded label 8bitpeoples. Click on that song name and you'll hear it is the same.
www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/by/goto80
If that link does not work for you, if you go to discography, it is release number 44 on page 6.
The song "Random strange places" on TV Death Squad's page is actually Random - Sitges Savepoint (from the Bad Joke EP). Here is a link to the official release, also on 8bitpeoples. Click on the song name and you'll hear it is the same.
www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/by/random
If that link does not work for you, if you go to discography, it is release 79 on page 3.
The song "Mr Turbo Sailor" on TV Death Squad's page is actually Wiklund - Mr Turbo Sailor (from the Wing Beats album). Here is a link to the official release on CrunchyCo. Click down on the little green arrow to download that particular song, and you will hear they are the same.
www.crunchyco.com/music/wiklund.html
The song "I Am A Pirate" on TV Death Squad's page is actually Combatdave - I Am A Pirate (released on 8bitcollective.com). Here is a link to the official song, uploaded on August 26th 2007. You can stream the song on the player.
www.8bitcollective.com/music/combatdave/I+Am+A+Pirate/
or you can also see the video on youtube

What really gets me is that he bought a lot of really expensive equipment and then uses it for nothing but posing. I would feel reeeally cheap.
I'm still looking for the source of the track "soft spots", did anyone manage to capture it?

I messaged him on myspace, and got a reply:

ive had the whole world pissed off.. FIRST off i am a VJ, not a musician... i specialize in visuals, i am no different than an 8 bit dj with vocals... i have done nothing but help promote how bad ass your music is and even do visuals over it.. EVERYONE at the event knew who wrote every song, thats why i had the setlist with the artists names !! i can understand why your pissed, but it sincerely is not what you think.. anyways, if you or random or wik are upset ill remove any promo for you guys.. let me know
As you can see, he's really bad at lying. Here's my reply:
Random wrote:
Hi,
I have a hard time believing you because:
1. You are clearly making some sounds in the beginning of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRCqzJEA0yw. VJs don't make sounds as far as I know.
2. You have a Game Boy on stage, and you pretend to play with it. Why would you do that if you were a VJ only? You are obviously pretending to play the music.
3. You are listed as a live performing band on the Game Core website (http://www.gamecorecon.com/events.html)
4. You say everyone at the even knew what music you were playing, but some one from the Game Core crew has commented on my website (http://randomizer.se/2009/09/another-music-theft/) saying "If we knew we would not have let him play that is BS." - and if the organizers didn't know, I simply don't believe you when you say "EVERYONE at the event knew who wrote every song".
5. You had my music uploaded on your myspace profile, and you renamed the tune. So what's this bullshit about "setlist with the artists names"? Again, if you were a VJ, why would you do that?
6. None of the other videos I've found on Youtube or Vimeo have any information of what music is actually played. It really looks like you're pretending to be the artist in all of them, no matter how I look at it.
To sum it up: things don't look so good for you in this case. If you still have anything to say in your defence, go ahead, but I doubt it will do anything but make you look even more like a liar.
It's good that you've removed your myspace profile and the videos on youtube, though. "Thanks".

i honestly dont remember what song was used.. i learned my lesson about not giving credit as a vj, and letting people assume it was my work. im sorry. thats really all i can do besides take it down

Got a similar reply. The VJ claim is infuriating. He's got a lot more musical gear on the table in his performance videos than your average VJ. He's also unique among VJs in that he doesn't bother teaming up with musicians.

I love how he shortens Wiklund to wik. Like it's his good buddy.
