I never thought I would do this. ![]()
For his new single on Island Records, Frankmusik sampled a 1993 SID-tune by Jeff. It is not the biggest of deals, but come on - give the guy some credit!

HAHA!
This guy's playing the BBCKS LULZ1!!1100 event!
Oh the irony! 'Best thing to happen to the chipscene'...
Also 5 SID versions of 'Popcorn'? That's hilarious!!

Another reason to hat frankmusik... like I needed one. Meh.
5 SID popcorn covers... In court no less. Fairly surreal I imagine. ![]()

Fuck! Not another one. I had a feeling this guy sampled stuff. Damn bastard.
so listened to 3 little words on my ipod at 2:20, and i could not hear jeffs song. though i did hear it on the first version of 3 little words he made. (which is on youtube) On his new version of the song that is also on youtube it seems that he's taken the sample out. and im pretty sure the new version is the version he had on his new album.
if i am wrong correct me?

i wonder if jazz and funk guys would have had discussions like this when hip hop started out if the internet was around?

it seemed a bit like that to me too, but it's weird to keep it in the video version. does anyone have the single or the album to verify?

nobody beats the pickiness and nerdiness of us chip mongos! no doubt the jazz/funk/r&b-people would get quite busy if they would take the challenge though. i'm guessing their publishers or copyright holders are paying close attention these days though...

Just to add, the sample's on his early, home made (demo?) version that appeared a year or so back. The re-recorded version he's done since signing to Island does NOT contain the sample. Am sure this small fact will not however prevent a ten page thread full of hand wringing over how a major label artist is dicking over the scene though. Maybe i'm a bit biased though, i think 3 Little Words is a bloody ace song.

Frankmusik is supported by babycakes?
Someone said that to me, I might be wrong.
But, probably the case is solved...? Or not?
EDIT: Oh, and:

Is it so hard to say "sampled XXXX from XXX" ?????
Is it? Just change it on the youtube video, everyone would be happy, for fuck sake!
EDIT2: moment of confusion. Sorry.

Well, to be fair, I found that whole hoo-hah a little overcooked as well, considering the CC/Lo-Bat tracks were on their (secondary) Myspace page and not the album. I mean, if we're going to be *that* fastidious about where samples come from then I'd be fascinated to see the agreement that Sabrepulse and about 95% of first-time uploaders on 8BC reached with The Winstons that permitted them to use the Amen break over all their tracks... ![]()

Having said that, I agree with Akira that it's not hard to credit where samples are from, it's a common courtesy and he should have done it.
Subway Sonicbeat, do you have me confused with someone else...?

remember when half the world wanted to sue puff daddy because he plagiarized everyone, but nothing happened. I dont think people care enough for the community, theyd rather have the credit for the bad ass sound, but remember, if anyone asks them to reproduce this sound, alls they can do is show someone the internet.
